Decadent and glamorous jewellery trends for Spring Summer 2022
The appearance of bold jewels visible from every front row at the Spring Summer 2022 shows was not surprising. The current style statements completely match the general hunger for decadence as fashion lovers worldwide started celebrating their freedom to socialize once and party like never before, albeit following the new norms.
At Saint Laurent, for Anthony Vaccarello, the catchphrase was boldness as he wished to integrate the “glamorous toughness” of the famous Paloma Picasso, whose fashion reinvigorated Yves Saint Laurent as he moved into the ’70s. One after the other, all the models beautifully sported Picasso’s chunky earrings, cuffs, necklaces, and in polished gold and bright hues of magenta, royal blue, and other jewel tones.
At Prada, it was a complete celebration of summer, as arm bracelets were worn in pairs, supremely high on the arm. The party temper too demands statement chokers that completely encircle the neck, in the form of dazzling Dolce & Gabbana Y2K pieces or S&M-inspired designs at Burberry.
On the catwalk, nothing can be too much for next season. The more the merrier, and so we got to see chain tassels that sashayed with each motion at Charlotte Knowles, shell pendants of the next level from Chloé, and huge logo earrings at Balenciaga.
The necessity for happiness is still a lot. Hence, there has been an abundance of energizing, mood-lifting colour – from the house of Fendi, especially evident with their Studio 54-style sunrise ear hoops of Delfina Delettrez to Maria Grazi Chiuri’s take on the plastic. These incredible rings have been flooding your daily Instagram feed at the famous Dior.
Upper Arm Cuffs at Prada
A revisit of the upper arm is the talk of the town. It’s the bicep bracelet we are talking about, and it was everywhere on the catwalks. It makes the best use of the bare arms in summer, or at Prada, it is about layering it over jumpers. All this evoked the nostalgic vibes of the ’70s disco at Fendi and came out in minimalist silver at Tory Burch.
Choker power
Divulge your inner madam in the semblance of the wide leather chokers witnessed at Burberry, or give free rein to Y2K nostalgia with a stunning diamante-studded necklace. At Tom Ford and Dolce & Gabbana, they were worn high and tight. Designers are said to make statements with exaggeration. The choices may not always be practical such as trimmings and embellishments, like shells, fringing, and spikes.
Some extra movement got noticed when pairs of long tassel bracelets with beads at Charlotte Knowles were seen. There was extra spikiness in the instance of Dries Van Noten’s wonderful beaded choker and Marco Panconesi’s fashionable earrings for Knowles, which appeared to emerge naturally from earlobes. Even Schiaparelli’s delectably OTT surrealist jewels went a step ahead with larger-than-life ear and eye jewels overpowering the looks.
