Gold jewellery never goes out of fashion
When it comes to fine jewellery, the use of gold is ubiquitous. Gold is always in fashion, not only because of its beauty but also because of its enduring value.
So what are the most recent trends in gold jewellery?
MIX ‘N’ MATCH
In days gone by it was the done thing to always ‘match your jewellery’. This meant wearing jewellery of one type of precious metal - yellow gold earrings, rings and necklace for example. These days the idea is to mix it up by wearing a variety of metals - match yellow gold earrings with rose gold rings, or layer necklaces in gold and silver together.
COLOURED GOLD
Gold comes in a variety of shades - the most common is yellow gold, followed by white gold which has the look of silver. Rose gold has been extremely popular in the last decade, gracing not only fine jewellery, particularly engagement rings, but also home accessories. The newest colour on the market is green gold, a shade that ties into the current trend for nature in everything from fashion and jewellery to homewares.

OLD GOLD
As more people become concerned about the environmental impact of consumerism, and have decided to adopt ethical shopping practices, the idea of buying new gold jewellery is being replaced with the decision to upcycle or redesign existing jewellery pieces. Gold jewellery pieces that are no longer worn can be melted down and refashioned into new items. Gemstones can be reset, and older style designs can be updated by reusing old gold jewellery.
